Meteorological Summary:
- High pressure centered over the Northeastern U.S. and extending southward along the Eastern U.S. will begin to slowly shift eastward into the western Atlantic today allow an abnormally moist airmass to remain in place over the state.
- A stalled frontal boundary to the north is expected to shift southward to the Florida-Georgia state line, likely allowing for isolated to widely scattered showers to develop across North Florida throughout the day (10-35% chance of rain).
- Lingering moisture and breezy onshore winds along the East Coast will also give way to isolated showers, developing along the coastline and moving well inland across the Peninsula during the peak heating hours of the day (5-20% chance of rain).
- Breezy easterly winds near 5-15 mph persist along the Peninsula and Keys with gusts reaching near 15-25 mph.
- High temperatures in the low to middle 80s across the state with portions of the Western Peninsula reaching into the upper 80s; Heat index values approaching or reaching the low 90s across portions of the Big Bend, Western Peninsula, and Keys late this afternoon.
- Please continue to practice heat safety when working out in the field during recovery efforts; Remember to take breaks from direct sunlight and drink plenty of water.
- Moderate to high risk for rip currents statewide as ocean swells and hazardous beach and boating conditions persist.
- Minor to moderate flooding continues along portions of the Withlacoochee and St. Johns Rivers.
- Isolated to widely scattered showers will persist across Northeast Florida overnight as a cold front sinks into the region (10-35% chance of rain).
- Mostly dry conditions will return across the rest of the state through the overnight hours with a few isolated showers lingering along the Western Panhandle, Southeast Florida, and Keys into the overnight hours (10-25% chance of rain).
- Low temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s across North Florida, low to middle 70s across Central and South Florida, and upper 70s along the Keys.
- Localized areas of patchy to locally dense fogpossible across the portions of North Florida and the Western Peninsula overnight into early Sunday morning.
- NHC continues to monitor Tropical Storm Rafael and a disturbance Near the Bahamas (10%).
