Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report for October 31st, 2024

• A cold front over the Central U.S. will push into the Eastern U.S. today before dissipating, weakening and pushing the area of high pressure extending across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast U.S. to the east over the Western Atlantic.
• Despite these influences from the cold front, mostly dry conditions are expected to persist across the state.
• Breezy onshore winds will bring isolated showers onshore along the Florida East Coast, moving inland throughout the day, but drier air aloft will keep activity light and brief (10-20% chance of rain).
• A few isolated showers and thunderstorms may manage to make their way into the Western Panhandle ahead of the approaching cold front before it begins to dissipate this evening (5-15% chance of rain).
• Abnormally Dry to Moderate Drought Conditions return to the Florida Panhandle.
• Locally sensitive wildfire conditions remain possible along the Panhandle throughout the afternoon due to the lack of rainfall and dry grounds.
• Easterly to southeasterly winds near 10-20 mph expected with wind gusts reaching upwards of 15-25 mph along the Peninsula and Keys and near 10-20 mph elsewhere.
• High temperatures in the low to middle 80s statewide.
• High risk for rip currents along the Florida Panhandle and East Coast; hazardous beach and boating conditions nearly statewide.
• Red Tide has been observed at background to high concentrations in 85 samples collected from Florida’s Gulf Coast over the past week (as of 10/30); fish kills and respiratory irritation also reported in several Southwest Florida counties.
• Instances of minor coastal flooding anticipated along portions of the St. Johns River Basin near and during times of high tide.
• Moderate to major riverine flooding continues along the Withlacoochee River with minor to moderate riverine flooding ongoing for the St. Johns River.
• Mostly dry conditions expected tonight with isolated showers remaining possible along the East Coast throughout the overnight period (10-25% chance of rain).
• Low temperatures in the 60s across North Florida, upper 60s to low 70s across Central Florida, low to middle 70s across South Florida, and middle to upper 70s along the Keys.
• Areas of patchy fog possible overnight and early Friday morning across North and West-Central Florida.
