.Low pressure will move into the NE Gulf of Alaska from the
Bering Sea on Monday then remain relatively stationary through
Tuesday. Moisture will clash with established stable, dry air to
produce consistent snow for portions of the northern Panhandle.
Long duration snowfall will cause accumulations to occur,
particularly in the Juneau area.
* WHAT…Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 14
inches.
* WHERE…City and Borough of Juneau.
* WHEN…From 6 PM Monday to 3 AM AKST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the morning and evening commute on Tuesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow characteristic will begin as dry and
fluffy and will increase in moisture over time. Expect snow
rates to remain consistent throughout the event with around 4
inches falling over 12 hour periods. There is potential for
snow to last longer into Wednesday.
