…SNOW POTENTIAL CONTINUES FOR PORTIONS OF SE ALASKA…
.Lingering low pressure over the NE Gulf of Alaska will cause
bands of showers to track over the area. Lack of moisture with
the system thus far has caused lower snowfall, reducing the
expected storm total accumulation.
For Petersburg, a strengthening system incoming from the west will
push warm air northward Wednesday afternoon with a wintry mix.
Overnight, northerly, cold air is expected to move in and
transition any mix over to wet and dense snow. As more cold air
moves in, snow will become increasingly fluffy and dry.
For Hyder, an all snow event from the aforementioned system will
move inland, bringing the main moisture feed to the Misty Fjords
area, including Hyder. Cold, continental air from the east will
keep snow dry and fluffy throughout the event, accumulating
quickly Thursday morning.
