Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report
EOC Activation Level: Level 2
EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
- Dense Fog Advisories are scattered across the Big Bend, Suwannee Valley and portions of the West-Central Florida coast as foggy conditions and low clouds have reduced visibility to ¼ of a mile or less at times.
- Foggy conditions throughout the state should gradually lift and dissipate by the mid-to-late morning hours.
- Lingering moisture throughout the day and cloudy conditions may allow a brief shower or two along the I-10 corridor; however, mostly dry conditions can be expected throughout the state (near 0-10% chance of rain).
- Locally sensitive wildfire conditions will linger across interior portions of the central Peninsula where relative humidity values will fall near critical thresholds this afternoon (40-45%).
- As the next cold front approaches late this evening and overnight, an increase in showers and thunderstorms can be anticipated along the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend (15-30% chance of rain).
- The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is outlooking a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather along a portion of the eastern Panhandle and western Big Bend where isolated strong to severe thunderstorms may develop late overnight and into early Thursday morning.
- Any strong to severe thunderstorm that develops may be capable of producing lightning, damaging wind gusts (50-60 mph), an isolated tornado or two and small hail.
- Areas of patchy to locally dense fog will be likely overnight and early Thursday morning nearly statewide, with the greatest chance for dense fog across the east of the I-95 corridor across Northeast Florida (including the Suwannee Valley and eastern Big Bend) and into the northern peninsula.
- If traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday morning remember to use low beam lights and keep plenty of distance.
- High temperatures will trend above normal for this time of year across the state reaching the middle to upper 70s and low 80s.
- A moderate risk for rip currents persists across the Florida Panhandle and several beaches along the East Coast extending from Northeast Florida into Treasure Coast.
- The Withlacoochee River near Holder remains within minor flood stage as water levels continue to slowly decline. The St. Johns River at Astor has fallen below flood stage.
