Meteorological Summary:
- Yesterday’s cold front continues to make its way through Central Florida bringing isolated to widely scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms throughout North and Central Florida (25-50% chance of rain).
- These showers and possible thunderstorms will continue to push south and eastward throughout the day.
- Drier conditions will follow behind the cold front across North and Central Florida throughout the evening and overnight hours as the strong area of high pressure ushers much colder and drier air southward.
- High temperatures will only reach the middle to upper 50s and low 60s across North Florida, while above normal temperatures in the middle to upper 70s and low 80s continue across Central and South Florida.
- Colder air will quickly move in behind the cold front dropping low temperatures into the 30s across North Florida and low to middle 40s across Northeast Florida to Nature Coast.
- The first freeze of the season will develop tonight across portions of the Panhandle where temperatures as low as 30-31-degrees are expected, and Freeze Warnings have been issued.
- Areas of patchy frost will also be possible throughout interior portions of the Panhandle and Big Bend if winds are able to remain calm enough.
- Waking up Saturday morning, feels-like temperatures will be in the upper 20s to middle 30s throughout North Florida and into the upper portions of Nature Coast.
- A moderate to high risk for rip currents can be expected across North and Central Florida beaches due to breezy winds and wave heights of 2-5′ developing.
- The Withlacoochee River near Holder has fallen below flood stage, and there are no additional riverine concerns.
