An ice jam release may cause a rapid increase in water levels and
flow in the Roaring Fork River.
* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by an ice jam is possible.
* WHERE…A portion of west central Colorado, including the
following areas, Central Colorado River Basin and Gore and Elk
Mountains/Central Mountain Valleys.
* WHEN…Through late Sunday night.
* IMPACTS…Anglers and anyone near or in the Roaring Fork River
should use extreme caution and be on the lookout for ice and
debris flowing in the river. Move away from the river and seek
higher ground.

– Water levels on the Roaring Fork River above Difficult Creek
have risen 2 feet since colder temperatures arrived on
Thanksgiving indicating a likely ice jam above this location.
A minor release occurred Friday, but since then levels have
risen further and another release is possible sometime today
and/or Sunday.
