* WHAT…Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations
between 10 and 20 inches in northern Erie County and 12 to 24
inches in southern Erie County.
* WHERE…Northern Erie and Southern Erie Counties.
* WHEN…Until 7 PM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4
mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are
expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially
life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and
evening commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heavy lake effect snow will continue through
Tuesday. The snow should not be as intense as previous days, but
snowfall rates could still reach 1 inch per hour in the heaviest
bands. This additional snowfall will bring storm total snow
accumulations to 4 to 6 feet in northern Erie County where 40 to
60 inches has fallen in many areas since Thursday night.
