Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

Meteorological Summary:
  • High pressure to the northwest continues to usher cooler and drier air southward creating mostly sunny skies and a near-zero chance for rain statewide.
  • Drier conditions will create sensitive to locally elevated wildfire conditions nearly statewide as relative humidity values will fall near or below critical thresholds this afternoon (25-45%), with the lowest values throughout the Suwannee Valley and northern I-75 corridor.
  • Breezy wind gusts at times will develop this afternoon throughout the state reaching 10-15 mph across North and Central Florida, with stronger wind gusts of 20-25 mph across South Florida.
  • High temperatures will trend below normal for this time of year throughout North and Central Florida reaching the upper 50s to low 60s across North Florida and middle to upper 60s across Central Florida.
  • A reinforcing cold front will sweep southward into North Florida overnight bringing even cooler and drier air with it (near 0% chance of rain). 
  • Low temperatures overnight will fall into the upper 20s to middle 30s across North Florida, upper 30s to middle 40s across Nature Coast and Central Florida, upper 40s to middle 50s across South Florida and 60s across the Keys.
    • Freeze Warnings have been issued for portions of interior Northeast Florida and the Suwannee Valley as temperatures as low as 27-31-degrees are expected early Tuesday morning.
  • Temperatures will feel-like they are in the middle 20s to low 30s throughout North Florida, middle 30s to low 40s across Central Florida and middle 40s to middle 50s across South Florida.
  • Widespread frost will be possible throughout interior North Florida, with patchy frost possible closer towards the coast; however, it will depend on how calm the winds are.
  • A moderate risk for rip currents can be expected nearly statewide, with a locally high risk along portions of South Florida beaches.
  • Large ocean swells of 5-7′ will develop along the East Coast throughout the day, with breaking waves upwards of 8′ along portions of Southeast Florida beaches. West Coast beaches can anticipate wave heights near 3-5′ with larger breaking waves upwards of 6′.
