Special Weather Statement issued December 2 at 3:08PM AKST by NWS Juneau AK

Over the last 36 hours, portions of the southern panhandle have
seen significant rainfall accumulations of over 3 inches, ranging
to around 9 inches in parts of Ketchikan.

After a short-lived lull in the rain Monday night, another round
of heavy rain is expected for Tuesday. Rainfall totals through
Tuesday are expected to be 1 to 3 inches, with up to 4 inches in
Ketchikan and Annette Island.

Runoff will have a difficult time keeping up with this amount of
rain, particularly in areas where the ground froze over the last
week. Expect ponding of water on roadways and for flashy creeks to
spike up. Boat owners should check on their vessels.

Additionally, each round of heavy rain will have strong winds
with gusts greater than 40 mph likely.

Please let the National Weather Service office know if you are
seeing impacts from this rainfall.
