* WHAT…For the Low Water Advisory, abnormally low water
levels. For the Small Craft Advisory, southwest winds 20 to 25
knots with gusts up to 35 knots and waves 2 to 4 feet. For the
Gale Warning, west winds 25 to 35 knots with gusts up to 40
knots and waves 3 to 6 feet expected.
* WHERE…The nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Maumee Bay to
The Islands OH.
* WHEN…For the Low Water Advisory, until 7 PM EST Thursday.
For the Small Craft Advisory, until 7 PM EST this evening. For
the Gale Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 4 PM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Below normal
water levels will result in hazardous navigating conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Regarding the Low Water Advisory, as of 330
AM Wednesday, the water level at Toledo was 10.8 inches above
low water datum or approximately 8 inches above the critical
mark for safe navigation. Strong southwest winds, eventually
increasing to gale force this evening, will result in water
levels bottoming out nearly 2 feet below low water datum and the
critical mark for safe navigation. A shift in wind direction
from the northwest on Thursday should allow for water levels to
steadily recover to levels above the critical mark.
