A low and associated front will to move across the area tonight
bringing more moderate to heavy rain across the region. The rain
combined with a melting snowpack and high freezing levels will
continue to provide runoff for area rivers and streams that are
already running at an elevated level.
* WHAT…Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is possible.
* WHERE…The following area, Central Inner Channels. This includes
the cities of Gustavus And Juneau.
* WHEN…Through Thursday morning.
* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, low-lying areas and flood-prone locations. Creeks
and streams may rise out of their banks. Storm drains and ditches
may become clogged with debris. Area creeks and streams are
running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Heavy rain may fall on the existing snowpack leading to
increased runoff. Flows in rivers may increase quickly and
reach impactful levels. Between an 1 to an 1.5 inches of rain
with localized higher amounts is possible through the
overnight hours.
– Storm drains should be kept clear of debris as much as possible.
