Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • A cold front will push off from the southern Peninsula and the Keys this morning, and high pressure will shift over the Southeast U.S. states keeping conditions throughout the daytime hours (near 0% chance of rain).
  • With another round of drier, relative humidity values will fall near or below critical thresholds across the Big Bend, Northeast Florida and West Florida (25-40%) creating sensitive to locally elevated wildfire conditions.
  • Temperatures will begin to gradually warm up compared to the last day or so, but remain below normal for this time of year throughout North and Central Florida.
    • High temperatures will reach the upper 50s to low 60s across North Florida, middle to upper 60s across Central Florida and low 70s across South Florida.
  • Another cold front is forecast to move across the Central U.S. and towards the East Coast overnight, and onshore winds will help to create isolated to scattered showers overnight and early Thursday morning along the western Panhandle (35-65% chance of rain).
    • A rumble of thunder or two may be possible closer towards the coastline and coastal waters, but severe weather is not expected.
  • Temperatures are forecast to remain above freezing tonight across North Florida, but areas of patchy frost may be possible along the Suwannee Valley early Thursday morning.
    • Low temperatures will fall into the middle to upper 30s throughout the Suwannee Valley and northern I-75 corridor while the rest of North Florida will see low temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. Central Florida will see low temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s, and South Florida will see low temperatures in the 50s and low 60s.
  • A moderate risk for rip currents will persist nearly statewide, with a high risk for rip currents along Southeast Florida due to wave heights of 5-7′.
