An ice jam on the Anchor River is flooding some roads and low areas
along the Anchor River.

Sterling Highway and the Anchor River State Recreation Area.
* WHEN…Until 115 PM AKST Thursday.
* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

– At 1104 AM AKST, emergency management reported an ice jam on
the Anchor River below the Old Sterling Highway was
impounding water behind the jam and flooding the Old Sterling
Highway and the Anchor River State Recreation Area. An
additional jam was reported near the Sterling Highway with
water rapidly rising along the river. Impounding water due
to the ice jam will cause rapid river rises upstream.
