Special Weather Statement issued December 11 at 3:55AM EST by NWS Jackson KY

lingering rain will transition to snow just before and after
sunrise this morning. This snow will then fall at a light to
moderate rate for an hour or so before tapering off by mid
morning. Most locations should receive one half inch or less of
accumulation.

These snow accumulations will be limited by the relatively warm
air and road temperatures out ahead of this system. Accordingly,
accumulations should be confined to grassy and elevated surfaces
with visibility reduction being the primary impact on travel.

Later today, towards sunset and into the evening, scattered snow
showers of varying intensity will occur. This will bring reduced
visibility and gusty winds as the showers pass. Some light
accumulations will be possible from these, resulting in a
potential for slick spots on area roads during the evening
commute. Also, temperatures falling into the 20s later tonight
could freeze any lingering wet patches on area roads.
