Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Breezy northeasterly winds near 10-20 mph with gusts near 15-30 mphalong the Peninsula and Keys.
  • Weaker winds near 5-15 mph with gusts near 10-20 mph along the Florida Panhandle.
  • Mostly dry conditions across much of the state under the continued influence of an area of high pressure to the north; however, breezy onshore winds and returning moisture will allow isolated to scattered showers to develop along the East Coast and Keys and move inland today and tonight (near 0-25% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the 60s along the Florida Panhandle, upper 60s to low 70s across the Northern Peninsula, middle to upper 70s along West-Central and South Florida and the Keys, and low to middle 70s across East-Central Florida.
  • River Flood Warning issued for the Apalachicola River near Blountstown as minor flooding is forecast.
  • Moderate to high risk of rip currents nearly statewide.
  • Beach and boating conditions continue to deteriorate and become increasingly hazardous along Florida’s Atlantic Coast today as breezy northeasterly winds and long-period ocean swells impact the coastline.
    • Large breaking wavesalong the East Coast will build to near 6-10’ by early Saturday morning; High Surf Advisories have been issued along the Central-East Coast.
    • Minor beach erosion possible around high tide.
    • Elevated water levels (0.25-1’ above normally dry ground) and isolated instances of minor coastal flooding cannot be ruled out at times of high tide.
  • Low temperatures in the upper 40s to middle 50s across the Florida Panhandle and Suwannee Valley, upper 50s to middle 60s across Central and South Florida, and upper 60s to low 70s along the Southeast Coast and Keys.
