Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Coastal showers have developed this morning along the I-95 corridor and East Coast, and additional spotty to isolated showers can be expected throughout the day (15-35% chance of rain).
  • Elsewhere, mostly dry conditions can be expected due to strong high pressure over New England expanding southward across the western half of the state.
  • Wind gusts of 15-20 mph can be expected by midday throughout the Peninsula, with stronger wind gusts upwards of 25-30 mph along and near the East Coast.
  • High temperatures will reach the 70s and low 80s across the state this afternoon, which is slightly above normal for this time of year.
  • Mostly dry conditions will develop overnight with a few lingering showers attempting to push onshore along the immediate East Coast with the help of onshore winds (15-30% chance of rain).
  • Breezy wind gusts of 10-15 mph will be possible overnight throughout the Peninsula, with those stronger wind gusts of 15-25 mph possible along the East Coast.
  • Elevated moisture and calmer conditions along the Big Bend and interior Northeast Florida may allow for areas of patchy fog to develop early Monday morning.
  • Dangerous ocean swells of 9-12′ and breezy onshore winds will create a high risk for rip currents along the Florida East Coast. Panhandle beaches will continue to see a moderate risk for rip currents.
  • Minor to instances of locally moderate coastal flooding will remain possible near and during high tide along portions of the East Coast due to elevated surf, onshore winds and the full moon. Coastal Flood Advisories remain in effect along Northeast Florida and into northern portions of the Space Coast.
