.Temperatures will support a mixture of freezing rain, sleet, and
snow as an area of low pressure moves northeast through the northern
Mid-Atlantic. Precipitation is expected to be primarily in the form
of freezing rain, but there may be mixed snow and sleet at times,
especially this morning. Anticipate potential impacts to travel for
areas where temperatures are below 32 degrees.
* WHAT…Freezing rain. Ice accumulations around one tenth of an
inch, and upwards of two tenths of an inch near the Blue Ridge
Parkway. Sleet may mix in at times, but any sleet accumulation is
expected to be less than an inch.
* WHERE…Portions of north central and northwest North Carolina,
southwest Virginia, and southeast West Virginia…generally along
and west of I-77.
* WHEN…Until noon EST today.
* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. Ice may also
accumulate on trees.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A wintry mix is expected, with freezing rain
being the main precipitation type where temperatures are below
