Winter Weather Advisory issued December 22 at 5:39PM AKST until December 23 at 6:00AM AKST by NWS Juneau AK

…FREEZING RAIN OBSERVED IN THE UPPER CHILKAT VALLEY…

.Rain, mixing with snow at times, and freezing rain has been
observed along the highway this evening. With forecasted steady
temperatures near 32 degrees in the upper portions of the Valley,
no big changes are expected in the weather overnight. So the risk
of freezing rain and icy surfaces will continue.

* WHAT…Freezing rain. Additional ice accumulations of up to one
quarter of an inch.

* WHERE…Haines Highway, mainly north of 20 mile.

* WHEN…Until 6 AM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Rain, mixing with snow at times, falling on
already icy surfaces and/or hard pack snow will remain slick,
even at above freezing temperatures.
