Rip Current Statement issued December 25 at 3:30AM ChST until December 26 at 4:00PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU

* WHAT…Hazardous surf of 9 to 11 feet and dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE…West and north facing reefs of the Marianas.

* WHEN…Until 4 PM ChST Thursday.

* IMPACTS…Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A large northerly swell has started to enter
the region with altimetry and buoy data showing 9 to 11 foot seas
across the far northern Marianas. A high risk of rip currents will
be possible along east facing reefs on Thursday as the northerly
and northeasterly swells increase.
