The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following…
WHAT…Air Quality Health Advisory for Blowing Dust.
WHERE…Elbert, Lincoln, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Crowley, Kiowa,
Otero, Bent, Prowers and Baca Counties. Locations include, but are
not limited to Kiowa, Limon, Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Ordway,
Eads, La Junta, Las Animas, Lamar and Springfield.
WHEN…1200 PM Monday December 30 to 500 PM Monday December 30
IMPACTS…Widespread blowing dust is expected across the advisory
area on Monday from late morning through mid-afternoon. Blowing
dust should decrease by the late afternoon hours.
HEALTH INFORMATION…Public Health Recommendations: If significant
blowing dust is present and reducing visibility to less than 10
miles across a wide area, People with heart or lung disease, older
adults, and children in the affected area should reduce prolonged
or heavy indoor and outdoor exertion.
