Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report for Monday, December 30th, 2024.

Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Dense Fog Advisories extend throughout North and Central Florida as dense fog and low clouds have reduced visibility to ¼ of a mile or less at times.
    • If traveling this morning, please use caution by keeping enough distance to the car ahead and use low beam lights.
  • Widespread fog throughout the state will gradually lift and dissipate by the mid-to-late morning hours, with areas of sea fog lingering slightly longer.
  • Calmer conditions can be expected today in the wake of the active weather over the weekend as yesterday’s frontal boundary has stalled across the Peninsula.
  • The stalled front will allow for spotty to isolated showers to develop throughout the Peninsula, with the greatest chance along the Southeast Florida coast (10-20% chance of rain).
  • Elsewhere across the state, mostly dry conditions with a mixture of sunshine and clouds can be expected.
  • The next cold front will approach and move into the state overnight helping to reinforce dry and cool conditions.
  • Lingering moisture ahead of the next front will bring isolated to widely scattered showers across the Big Bend and Suwannee Valley late overnight and into early Tuesday morning (20-30% chance of rain).
  • Another round of patchy to scattered fog will be possible overnight and early Tuesday morning, with locally dense fog possible.
  • High temperatures will reach the 70s across the state, with portions of the interior Peninsula and South Florida reaching the low 80s.
  • Low temperatures will fall into the low to middle 50s across North Florida, upper 50s to middle 60s across Central Florida and middle to upper 60s and low 70s across South Florida and the Keys.
  • A moderate to high risk for rip currents has returned along Panhandle beaches, while most Atlantic Coast beaches can expect a moderate risk for rip currents.
  • Multiple rivers and waterways along the western Panhandle have risen or are forecast to rise into Action Stage (bank-full) due to recent heavy rainfall, but no river flooding is expected.
