Lake Effect Snow Warning issued January 1 at 2:59PM EST until January 2 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Cleveland OH

* WHAT…For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy lake effect snow
through Thursday evening. Additional snow accumulations between 4
and 8 inches through Thursday evening. Winds gusting as high as 35
mph. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy lake effect snow possible
Friday through the weekend. Total snow accumulations between 7 and
12 inches possible Friday through the weekend. Winds could gust as
high as 35 mph.

* WHERE…Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake Counties.

* WHEN…For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, until 7 PM EST Thursday.
For the Winter Storm Watch, from Friday morning through Sunday
morning.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become
slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to
falling and blowing snow.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Lake effect snow will develop this evening
and continue overnight into Thursday, bringing heavy snow bands
and higher snowfall rates. The lake effect snow is expected to
shift north of the area for a time on Thursday afternoon and night
before additional periods of lake effect snow return for Friday
through the weekend. Areas of Geauga County could have up to 2
feet of total snowfall by the end of the weekend.
