Cold Weather Advisory issued January 2 at 12:31PM AKST until January 4 at 12:00PM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

* WHAT…Very cold temperatures as low as 50 below.

* WHERE…Eastern Copper River Basin, including the Tok Cutoff and
Richardson Edgerton Highways.

* WHEN…Until noon AKST Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Temperatures will remain cold through
Saturday morning across the eastern half of the Copper River
Basin. Locations along the Richardson and Edgerton Highways will
continue to see temperatures hover near 40 below zero. Locations
closer to Mentasta Lake and Slana are expected to have a northeast
wind develop this evening and continue into Saturday which will
keep ambient temperatures near 20 to 25 below zero, but drop wind
chill values as low as 50 below zero.
