An arctic air mass is expected to further drive into the Copper
River Basin, with morning temperatures dropping as low as 40
below zero in lower elevations. Temperatures will remain cold
today and map further drop Friday night as the air mass remains
over the northern and central Basin. Locations closer to Mentasta
Lake and Slana are expected to have a northeast wind develop this
evening and through Friday night which will keep ambient
temperature near 20 to 25 below zero, but drop wind chill values
as low as 40 below to 50 below zero for tonight and Friday night
in these areas.
