Snow is expected to overspread the area this afternoon and persist
into this evening before ending from west to east. Snow
accumulations are expected to range from around an inch roughly
along a Sterling Illinois to Valparaiso Indiana line, with higher
amounts between 1 and locally 3 inches south of the Kankakee and
Illinois River valleys. Untreated roads may become slippery this
afternoon and evening as snow accumulates, especially after sunset
as temperatures fall below freezing. Exercise caution if driving
across the area this afternoon and this evening, and plan on
allowing extra time to reach your destination safely.
