A building pressure and thermal gradient will increase over the
Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains through late Saturday resulting in
strong winds funneling through the Matanuska Valley. Sustained
winds will increase to 35 mph by this morning, with wind gusts
possibly getting up to 50 mph. The main corridor of strong winds
will occur over the western portions of Palmer and nudging into
Wasilla, though changes to the pattern could briefly pull the
winds further south and east. These conditions will last into
Saturday before subsiding as the gradient over the mountains
begins to lessen.
