Special Weather Statement issued January 3 at 5:43PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

At 537 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated the leading edge of an area
of snow showers along a line extending from 12 miles east of Erwin
Tennessee to near Mount Guyot, and moving southeast at 20 to 25 mph,
taking them across the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Locations to be impacted include… Asheville, West Asheville,
Sylva, Spruce Pine, Waynesville, Burnsville, Marshall, Newland,
and Beech Mountain.

Localized snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour will be possible in
these areas.
