Winter Storm Warning issued January 3 at 12:25PM PST until January 3 at 10:00PM PST by NWS Sacramento CA

* WHAT…Moderate to heavy snow expected. Storm total snow
accumulations between 8 and 12 inches, with up to 16 inches at the
highest peaks. Southwest winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE…West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and Western Plumas
County/Lassen Park above 5500 feet, including Interstate 80 and
Highway 50.

* WHEN…Until 10 PM PST this evening.

* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery and snow-covered road conditions with
mountain travel delays and chain controls. The hazardous
conditions could impact the evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow levels around 5000 to 6000 feet,
lowering to around 4000 to 4500 feet by this evening. Snow rates
of around 1 to 2 inches per hour. Heaviest snow rates for
Interstate 80 and Highway 50 corridors will be this afternoon and
early evening.
