Strong winter storm to impact the region this weekend.
* WHAT…Periods of light freezing drizzle, snow, and blowing snow
expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches and ice
accumulations around a light glaze.
* WHERE…Portions of central, east central, and south central
Nebraska.
* WHEN…From 9 AM Saturday to 6 PM CST Sunday.
* IMPACTS…Roads will likely become slick and hazardous.
Visibilities may drop as low as 1/2 mile due to falling and
blowing snow.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Freezing drizzle is expected to develop
throughout the day on Saturday before mixing with and changing to
snow Saturday night. Once precipitation changes to snow, northerly
winds will increase and gust up to around 30 MPH, resulting in
blowing and drifting snow. Snow and strong winds will taper off
from west to east Sunday afternoon and evening, but very cold
temperatures will persist into Monday.
