Lake Effect Snow Warning issued January 4 at 2:56PM EST until January 5 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Albany NY

* WHAT…Heavy lake effect snow expected. Snow accumulations between
6 and 12 inches with locally higher amounts in the most persistent
bands. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will result in blowing and
drifting snow.

* WHERE…Southern Herkimer County. The greatest snowfall totals are
expected north of the Thruway corridor.

* WHEN…Until 4 PM EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS…Roads will likely become slick and hazardous.
Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing
snow.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The lake effect band is expected to lift
northwards this evening, with the heaviest snow overnight before
the snow tapers off tomorrow.
