Winter Storm Warning issued January 4 at 11:50AM AKST until January 6 at 12:00PM AKST by NWS Juneau AK

…HEAVY SNOW ACROSS THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE…

.For Yakutat, lulls in the snow will continue through this
evening, otherwise snow showers over the area are expected to
continue through the day with very dry and fluffy snow. For the
winter storm warnings and advisories, a warm front is expected to
move northward Saturday night, bringing snow for Juneau and
Gustavus and up to the Klondike and Haines Highways. Warming
temperatures will push northward Sunday through Monday causing a
change to rain. Timing issues are complicating the change over
times. A separate front will bring heavy rain and upper elevation
snow to the region Monday night through Tuesday.

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 15
inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE…Municipality of Skagway and Haines Borough and Klukwan.

* WHEN…From 6 AM Sunday to noon AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Greatest snowfall totals are expected
along the Highways at elevation, with lower totals for the
cities of Skagway and Haines.
