Nebraska and the highest amounts of 8 to 12 inches expected along
and especially south of the Nebraska-Kansas border. Total ice
accumulation up to around one-tenth of an inch. Winds shifting
from easterly to northerly tonight, and highest gusts around 30
MPH expected late tonight into the day on Sunday.
* WHERE…Portions of north central Kansas and south central
Nebraska.
* WHEN…Until 6 PM CST Sunday.
* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop to around
1/4 mile at times tonight into Sunday due to falling and blowing
snow creating near-blizzard conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…This is a complex storm system, with varying
precipitation types and impacts at varying times. Initially,
freezing drizzle will be the primary issue, with accumulating snow
and blowing snow taking over tonight into Sunday daytime, with
snow then gradually ending from northwest to southeast Sunday
afternoon and evening. Once snow ends, very cold temperatures and
wind chill readings as cold as -10 to -20 degrees will occur into
Monday morning.
