* WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
accumulations between 6 and 9 inches and ice accumulations less
than one-tenth inch.
* WHERE…Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Ridges of Eastern Monongalia
and Northwestern Preston, and Wetzel Counties.
* WHEN…From 7 PM Sunday to 7 PM EST Monday.
* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…There are two realistic outcomes from this
winter event. One features colder air for the duration, with a
band of heavy snow (6 to 9 inches) for northern West Virginia
which does not mix with other precipitation types. The second
features a temporary transition from snow to sleet and freezing
rain Monday morning before turning back to snow by Monday
afternoon (totals by Monday evening of 5 to 7 inches and a bit of
ice accumulation). Either outcome will produce hazardous impacts
in the region.
