Winter Weather Advisory issued January 5 at 12:40PM AKST until January 7 at 3:00AM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

* WHAT…Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of a
light glaze.

* WHERE…Western Kenai Peninsula.

* WHEN…From 9 AM Monday to 3 AM AKST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS…Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are
possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning
commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A series of storms will bring considerably
warmer weather and a chance of precipitation to the area today
through Tuesday. Rain is most likely to spread into the western
Kenai Peninsula from Monday afternoon through Monday night.
While temperatures may rise above freezing, surface temperatures
are likely to remain below freezing due to recent cold weather.
Untreated and snow- covered roadways and other surfaces that
remain below freezing are expected to become extremely slick.

Rain/snow showers returned to the Yukon Delta Sunday afternoon as the next system arrived. Showers will stretch north to St. Lawrence Island by Monday morning and to the southern Seward Peninsula by noon Monday. Showers are expected to be a messy rain/snow mix, especially in the Yukon Delta and lower Yukon Valley where the mix will be more rain than snow. Neosho River near Parsons affecting Neosho and Labette Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neosho River near Parsons. * WHEN...Until early Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Flood waters spread over fields to a distance of 1 and one fourth miles. Several county roads, mainly along the left bank are inundated. Several residents which live along the right bank in the vicinity of Highway 400 may experience water entering their homes at basement levels. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:30 AM CDT Monday
