Winter Storm Warning issued January 6 at 3:46AM EST until January 6 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Blacksburg VA

* WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations between 1 and 4 inches and ice accumulations up to
four tenths of an inch.

* WHERE…Portions of northwest North Carolina, central, south
central, southwest, and west central Virginia, and southeast West
Virginia.

* WHEN…Until 7 PM EST this evening.

* IMPACTS…Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree
limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages. Plan on
slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact
travel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Mainly freezing rain is expected this
morning, then changing back to snow as temperatures fall this
afternoon. The wintry precipitation is expected to come to an end
tonight, but watch for increasing winds which may cause power
outages, especially if ice lingers on the trees.
