A potent low pressure system moving across the Carolina’s will bring its strong cold front across the Sunshine State today.
Isolated to scattered showers, with embedded thunderstorms, can be expected to move eastward across North and Central Florida throughout the day as the cold front moves eastward (50-near 100% chance of rain).
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is outlooking a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather across much of North Florida and along West-Central Florida as strong to severe thunderstorms may be possible.
Any strong to severe thunderstorm may be capable of producing frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts (55-65 mph), a brief tornado or two, and heavy downpours.
Breezy wind gusts of 20-30 mph will develop throughout much of the state and persist throughout the day, with stronger wind gusts upwards of 35 mph possible throughout portions of interior Central Florida.
Much of North Florida have seen already their high temperature or will see it near midday for the day in the middle to upper 60s and near 70-degrees.
Throughout the rest of the state, high temperatures will reach the middle to upper 70s this afternoon.
Temperatures will rapidly decline this evening and overnight across the state with low temperatures in the middle toupper 20s and low 30s across North Florida, middle to upper 30s north of the I-4 corridor, middle 40s to middle 50s south of the I-4 corridor and low 60s across the Keys.
Freeze Warnings will go into effect overnight throughout the Suwannee Valley and interior Northeast Florida as temperatures as low as 31-degrees are expected.
Breezy winds will continue into the overnight hours, and when combined with clearing skies, the feels-like temperature or wind chills will be lower than the actual temperature.
Cold Weather Advisories will go into effect later this evening throughout North and much of interior Central Florida as wind chill values will fall into the middle toupper 10s to low 20s throughout North Florida, 20s to low 30s across interior Central Florida and middle to upper 30s across coastal Central Florida towards Lake Okeechobee.
A moderate to high risk for rip currents extends across all beaches statewide due to breezy onshore winds and dangerous ocean swells developing along the coasts.
High Surf Advisories will persist through this evening along the Panhandle as dangerous surf upwards of 8′ can be expected.
