* WHAT…Southeast winds 45 to 65 mph with gusts of 75 to 100 mph
possible.
* WHERE…Anchorage.
* WHEN…From late Saturday night through Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS…High winds could move loose debris, damage property, and
cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for
high profile vehicles.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Back-to-back systems will bring the potential
for high winds to the area this weekend, with the second system
Saturday night into Sunday being the primary concern. The first
system Friday night may result in gusts in excess of 50 mph for
the East Anchorage Hillside, with low potential for the wind to
make it into the remainder of Anchorage.
-Potential is higher with the second system for strong and
potentially damaging winds to occur across the entirety of
Anchorage. Gusts up to 100 mph on the Anchorage Hillside and
upwards of 70 mph may occur in lower elevations of Anchorage.
-This is a medium-confidence scenario. Small shifts in storm track
and orientation may result in significant changes to the wind
forecast. Please stay tuned for the latest updates.
