.A front advancing from the West will bring with it a surge of
moisture reaching up into the Klondike Highway. Cooler
temperatures aloft will help keep precipitation as mostly snowfall
along the upper elevations of the Klondike Highway. Precipitation
diminishes during a lull Monday morning, before another system
arrives Monday afternoon into Monday evening.
* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to
8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE…Municipality of Skagway, specifically the higher
elevations along the Klondike Highway.
* WHEN…From 3 PM Sunday to 6 AM AKST Monday.
* IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult. Gusty winds could
bring down tree branches.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The heaviest snowfall will occur around
White Pass. Near sea level, precipitation will remain as rain.
