reaching up to the Klondike Highway. Cooler temperatures aloft
will keep precipitation as snow. Precipitation diminishes during a
lull Monday morning, before another system arrives Monday
afternoon into Monday evening.
* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8
inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE…Municipality of Skagway, specifically the higher
elevations along the Klondike Highway.
* WHEN…From 3 PM Sunday to 6 AM AKST Monday.
* IMPACTS…Travel will be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The heaviest snowfall will occur around
White Pass with heaviest snowfall rates in the evening with
rates up to 1 inch per hour. Lighter snow expected after
midnight. Near sea level, precipitation will remain as rain.
