Rip Current Statement issued January 13 at 9:38PM AST until January 16 at 6:00PM AST by NWS San Juan PR

* WHAT…Life-threatening rip currents due to breaking waves up
to 6 feet and occasionally higher, increasing to 10 to 11 feet
during the second half of the workweek.

* WHERE…Beaches of northern Puerto Rico, from Rincon to
Fajardo, Culebra, St. Thomas and St. John.

* WHEN…In effect through at least Thursday afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Rip currents that can sweep even the best swimmers
away from shore into deeper water where it becomes difficult
to return to safety. High waves that can wash over jetties and
sweep people and pets onto jagged rocks. Rough surf may also
knock you down.
