Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • High pressure to promote mostly sunny skies and near-zero rain chances across North Florida and southward to the I-4 corridor today.
  • A stationary frontal boundary lingering around the Florida Straits and a swath of moisture will promote isolated to scattered shower activity south of the I-4 corridor through the Peninsula (20-50% chance of rain) and scattered to numerous showers along the Florida Keys today (70-75% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the middle 60s to middle 70s.
  • Winds near 5-10 mph with gusts near 10-15 mph.
  • Sensitive wildfire conditions across North Florida and southward to the I-4 corridor this afternoon as lingering dry air allows relative humidity values to fall to 30-45%.
  • Moderate risk for rip currentsalong the numerous Florida Panhandle and East Coast beaches.
  • Low pressure developing in the Southern Plains will move eastward later today and tonight, increasing cloud cover and rain chances across North Florida ahead of its associated frontal boundaries.
  • Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will begin to move into the Panhandle tonight (45-80% chance of rain) with isolated to scattered activity making its way into the Big Bend and the Northern and Central Peninsula (25-40% chance of rain).
  • A strong to locally severe thunderstorm or two capable of producing occasional lightning, damaging wind gusts (40-60 mph), and heavy downpours cannot be ruled out in the Panhandle tonight.
  • Isolated to widely scattered showers will persist across South Florida overnight (25-40% chance of rain).
  • Low temperatures in the middle 40s to low 50s across North Florida, middle 50s to low 60s across Central Florida, and middle 60s to low 70s across South Florida and the Keys.
  • Areas of patchy to locally dense fog possible across Central and Southwest Florida overnight into early Saturday morning.
