Special Weather Statement issued January 17 at 11:20PM EST by NWS Gaylord MI

Passage of a strong cold front in the 100am to 400am time frame is
expected to bring a burst of moderate to heavy snow and gusty
winds to eastern Upper Michigan and the Straits of Mackinac
region. While the snow squall will likely only last for an
hour…it will drop visibilities below one-half mile with wind
gusts of 30 to 40mph. Once the squalls end there will be a
transition to lake effect snow showers during the pre-dawn hours
as temperatures drop into the 20s.
