Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

Meteorological Summary:
  • A warm front lifting northward through the area and an Arctic cold front approaching from the west will bring several rounds of scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms throughout the day today (65-90% chance of rain) and tonight (65-95% chance of rain).
  • There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Severe Weather along the Florida Panhandle, into the Western Suwannee Valley, and southward along the Nature Coast into the Tampa Bay Area as locally strong to severe thunderstormscapable of producing occasional lightning, damaging wind gusts (40-60 mph), a brief tornado or two, and heavy downpours will be possible.
  • There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) for Flash Floodingacross the Big Bend and Northern Peninsula as locally heavy rainfall may accompany the decelerating cold front Saturday into Sunday morning, giving way to instances of localized nuisance flooding in areas that see heavy rainfall in a short period of time of repeated rounds of rainfall.
  • Isolated showers across Central and South Florida this morning are expected to exit this morning, leaving behind mostly dry conditions and partly sunny skies through the rest of the day (near 0-25% chance of rain).
  • Conditions will remain dry across South Florida and the Keys overnight (near 0-15% chance of rain) while isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms begin to make their way into Central Florida overnight into early Sunday morning (20-40% chance of rain).
  • High temperatures in the upper 60s to middle 70s across North Florida and middle 70s to low 80s elsewhere.
  • Winds near 5-15 mph with gusts upwards of 10-20 mph.
  • High risk for rip currents along the Florida Panhandle; moderate riskalong the East Coast.
  • Low temperatures in the middle 40s to middle 50s along the Panhandle, upper 50s to low 60s across the Big Bend, and middle 60s to low 70s elsewhere.
  • Areas of patchy to dense fogwill be possible across the state today, with areas of dense fog primarily developing along the Forgotten, Nature, and Sun Coasts and their adjacent coastal waters.
