Special Weather Statement issued January 18 at 1:20PM AKST by NWS Anchorage AK

Easterly winds will increase tonight as a system approaches the
region from the south. Expect winds to begin increasing late
tonight and continuing through mid to late morning Sunday before
gradually decreasing. Portage Valley and along the Turnagain Arm
could see sustained easterly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of
45 to 60 mph. Strong winds of 30 to 45 mph with gusts of 50 to 70
mph are possible along the Upper Anchorage Hillside, including
Bear Valley and Upper Potter Valley areas.
