Cold Weather Advisory issued January 19 at 9:12PM MST until January 20 at 11:00AM MST by NWS Goodland KS

* WHAT…For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low
as 24 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold
wind chills ranging as low as 15 to 30 below zero.

* WHERE…Portions of east central Colorado, northwest and west
central Kansas, and southwest Nebraska.

* WHEN…For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 11 AM MST /noon CST/
Monday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Monday afternoon through
Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS…The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia may occur if unprotected skin is exposed
to these temperatures. Wind chill values may fall to extremely
dangerous levels. An extended period of freezing temperatures
could cause ruptured water pipes. Frostbite and hypothermia will
occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind
chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Cloud cover tonight is forecasted to decrease
into the morning hours Monday. If this occurs quicker, even colder
forecasted temperatures and wind chills are possible. The snowpack
over Kit Carson and Cheyenne counties in colder could allow for
localized colder readings for a few hours. Monday night into
Tuesday morning looks to be the coldest timeframe.
