* WHAT…For the High Surf Warning, very large and choppy
breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet along east facing shores, with
strong and dangerous rip currents. For the Coastal Flood
Advisory, coastal flooding is possible and could become
locally damaging.
* WHERE…Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands.
* WHEN…Until 2 PM PST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS…Strong wind-induced waves may bring shallow flooding
along the beach areas as well as coastal walkways and roads
like Crescent Avenue and Saint Catherine Way. Flooding of sea
water is likely, around the time of high tide, over vulnerable
low- lying coastal areas such as parking lots, beaches, and
walkways. Powerful waves and strong rip currents will pose an
exceptional risk of ocean drowning and damage to coastal
structures like piers and jetties. Large breaking waves can
cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize
small boats near shore.
