Special Weather Statement issued January 23 at 2:42PM EST by NWS Raleigh NC

Refreezing of snowmelt and areas of runoff will create slippery
spots and patches of black ice over portions of the Coastal Plain
tonight, starting around sunset, and persisting through Friday
morning. These slippery areas on roads, especially on bridges, and
on sidewalks may make driving and walking hazardous this evening
through Friday morning.

Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution this
evening through early Friday. Roadways that appear just wet may be
covered in black ice. If walking outside, take care with the
first steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways, as these
surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing the risk of falling
and injury.

Air temperatures are expected to rise above freezing between 9 AM
and 10 AM Friday morning.
