* WHAT…Blizzard conditions and heavy snowfall. Additional snow
accumulations of 6 to 26 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50
mph. Visibilities reduced to a quarter mile or less at times.
* WHERE…Kuskokwim Delta.
* WHEN…Until 9 PM AKST Sunday.
* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. Areas of heavy snow
and blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The
cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero could cause frostbite
on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…A prolonged period of moderate to heavy
snowfall is expected to continue into the weekend across much of
the Kuskokwim Delta. The heaviest total snowfall is expected
from Bethel south including Quinhagak. Snowfall amounts will be
lowest near the coast between Kipnuk and Toksook Bay. North
winds will then increase from Saturday evening into Sunday and
cause blizzard conditions to develop. The worst conditions will
be along the Kuskokwim Delta Coast.
