Florida State Watch Office Morning Situation Report

EOC Activation Level: Level 2
Meteorological Summary:
  • Mostly dry conditions and mostly to partly sunny skies can be expected statewide today as high pressure builds over the Sunshine State (near 0% chance of rain).
  • A few isolated showers remain possible along the Southeast Coast as a cold front moves across the area later today (5-15% chance of rain).
  • Mostly sunny skies across North Florida will continue to aid in melting off the remaining snowpack on the ground; Unfortunately, roadways that remain shaded throughout the day will continue to have black ice issues at least through today.
  • High temperatures in the upper 40s to middle 50s across North Florida, middle to upper 50s across Central and South Florida, and low 60s along the Keys.
  • Northerly to northwesterly winds near 5-15 mph with gusts upwards of 10-20 mph.
  • High risk for rip currentsalong the East Coast; moderate risk
  • Low temperatures in the middle 20s to low 30sacross North Florida and southward to the I-4 corridor, 30s across Central Florida, upper 30s to middle 40s across South Florida, and upper 40s to middle 50s across the Southeast Coast and Keys.
  • Freeze Warningsissued along the Central and Eastern Florida Panhandle, Nature Coast, and just north of the I-4 corridor with Freeze Watches across the Northern Peninsula for tonight into Saturday morning as sub-freezing temperatures as low as 22-30 degrees are expected.
  • Cold Weather Advisorieshave also been issued across the Central and Eastern Florida Panhandle for very cold wind chills as low as 20-degrees expected overnight into Saturday morning.
  • Any partially melted snow, ice, or wet surfaces will refreeze again tonight, creating areas of black ice overnight into Saturday morning.
